Help answer the question about latest design body tattoo
girlfriend got a tattoo today?Just ate dinner with the girlfriend. She didn't have work today and was up in Vegas with a friend. Near the end of dinner, I see something colored on the back of her neck sticking up from behind her hoodie (hair was in a ponytail). I tell her she has something on the back of her neck and she exclaims, "No that's my tattoo – was wondering when you'd notice!" Of course I then couldn't help but react with a testemot.gif and then for the next few minutes my unsure.gif reaction had to be painfully obvious to her. She kept asking me if I thought it was "cute" and all I could really say is that all that matters is what she thinks because it's her body. I'm sure she was disappointed I didn't like it, but she handled it okay.
What's weird is that depite how different this girl is I get along with her better than any girl I've ever dated. We don't fight, she gets that I have certain hobbies and she doesn't complain about them (well, most of the time), doesn't complain that I work a lot, etc. But it's just shocking to me that two people who are so different can successfully date each other. Totally different backgrounds, values, hobbies, fashions… yet it still works. Anyone else experience this? I mean it's great and no complaints, but if you'd have told a young Woz he'd enjoy dating a tobacco-chewing cheerleader busy-blonde type with a tattoo he would have said you're crazy.
Speaking of tattoos, and since I really have no idea what the direction of this thread is other than to get attention, I'm still unsure as to why girls (or most men for that matter) think tattoos, especially visible ones, are a good idea. In my girlfriend's case I can't knock it too much because she got it as homage or whatever for her cousin who died in a motorcycle crash (it's basically his initials split by a colorful sprial design thing so there is legitimate "meaning" behind it, but regardless it is still so visible and permanent. I've still have never seen a tattoo improve a girl's appearance and I just don't get why people get them where they can be seen. For starters, it's basically intentionally handicapping oneself in the professional field. Sure, it's probably doable if your resume is otherwise qualified enough, but it just seems like people with tattoos would be taken less seriously in certain professions. For example, I know a few colleagues who are really limited with their wardrobe because they need to make sure they cover up tattoos which seemed like a good idea when they were younger. Point being, I can't imagine some regret or buyer's remorse when the tattoo is visible. Next, tattoos are just so permanent. In my girlfriend's case she is now going to have a colored spiral on the back of her wrinkled neck when she is ninety years old. Can't imagine not wanting to get rid of a tattoo later in life. I saw an old dude totally tatted up the other day and he looked like a rag soaked in ink. I just don't get it.
Lastly, now her neck is "sore" and she can't do certain things. ####### awesome.
